Based on all studies conducted a total of 957 species exist at MHRWS and adjacent areas. These species are distributed into 723 angiosperm, 27 conifers, 164 ferns and allies, 17 mosses, 13 liverworts, to note that of the 957 species recorded, only 477 were identified while the rest are still being studied to find out what particular species they belong. Since this is the first species composition study in this area, there is possibility that new plant species might be discovered.
From the 541 identified species, three species of pitcher plant, namely Nepenthes peltata, N. miccamphora and N. Hamiguitanensis are new in terms of converasation status, 171 species (17.87%) are Philippine endemic, 35 species (3.66%) threatened, 33 species (3.45%) rare and 204 species (21.32%) are considered economically important species. Out of the 35 threatened species, six are further classified as critically endangered, seven endangered, 20 vulnerable while two are other threatened species.
The critically endangered species found in Hamiguitan Range include Nepenthes copelandii, Paphiopedilum addactum, Platycerium coronarium, Rhododendron kochii, Shorea astylosa and Shorea polysperma. Dr. Amoroso, et al. noted that of N. copelandii in this area since this plant species is critically endangered, endemic and rare.
